My name is Tisha Hinojos. I am originally from Carlsbad, NM. I was born and raised there, I graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1994. I immediately began taking college courses to obtain my BA in Elementary Education. I could not wait to get started in my chosen career!
Upon graduating from CSW, I began working in Hagerman Elementary which is a small rural school district. I taught 3rd grade, Kindergarten, and 1st grade there. I also coached volleyball and track while working with the HSD.
I relocated back to my hometown, Carlsbad, NM. I taught there for approximately 15 years. While I was there, I taught 1st and 2nd grades. I coached cheerleading for several years at the CHS district. I also served as the SIT chair and grade chair during my time in Carlsbad. During my time at Carlsbad, I worked to obtain my Master’s Degree from NMSU. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in 2006.
I relocated to Tulsa, OK in 2015. I began working at Jenks East Elementary as a 2nd grade teacher. I worked at Jenks East for 6 years. During my time there, I served at SIT chair and grade chair as well. During my time at Jenks, I worked to obtain my principal certification. I received my certification in May of 2021.
My husband and I decided we wanted to live in a smaller rural area. We relocated to Okmulgee, Ok in 2021. I was hired by Okmulgee in June of 2021. I have began working as a 7th grade ELA teacher at Dunbar. I must add that I love OKMULGEE!!! It feels like home!

I am happily married to Alfie Hinojos. We have 6 children between us. 3 of the children are mine and the otehr 3 are his. Our children range in age from 30-18. We also have 3 grandchildren. Our kids are all raised and are either working or in college. We have a teacher, a preacher, a missionary, a pipeline controller, and our two youngest are pursuing degrees in the medical field. We are very blessed with their success, but we miss them. All of them live elsewhere except for the 19 year old. We have one daughter in the Netherlands, a son in Texas, and 2 daughters and a son in NM.
I have a lot of hobbies. I am an outdoor adventure seeker. I love camping, backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, zip lining, kayaking, and white water rafting.
People who know me well know that I may pack my backpack and find a 20-30 mile trail. I will backpack the entire trail and be off the grid for 3-4 days.
Outdoors give me peace and it is my favorite place to be!
