My name is Courtney Norton. I have been a Library Media Specialist for Okmulgee Public Schools since the 2009-2010 school year. I have the great pleasure of being the Dunbar Kelco STEM Lab facilitator, coaching robotics, and working with students in our Gifted and Talented program. In the 2021-2022 school year I launched our new CareerTech STEM program with Tech Engineering classes.
I grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam City North High School. I went to college for one year at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee before transferring to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. I graduated from Oklahoma State with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After teaching 4 years in the classroom, I decided to pursue a master's degree in Library Media so that I could become a School Library Media Specialist. I graduated in 2009 with my Master's in Education with Library Media option from East Central University in Ada.
I began my career as a School Library Media Specialist here in Okmulgee and look forward to many other years to come!
